Testing in Montessori Schools?

In my last post I began a discussion about a possible EdD in Montessori education at the high school level. Since then, I’ve done more research on the topic. I found an extensive, thirty-six page evaluation by The Riley Institute at Furman University on Montessori schools in North Carolina. Take a look at the number […]

Montessori Methodologies in High School?

Well, 2020 has been an interesting year so far, hasn’t it? I’ve seen memes galore. Some of my favorites: And then, there were more after the first presidential debate: I finished off the 2019/20 school year remotely, not being able to hug my students goodbye. They knew I wouldn’t be back next school year because […]

Social History Interview Project

One of the best things about being a teacher is that I can always change things up for the betterment of my students! As such, I came up with a new summative assessment this semester: a social history interview project. Years ago, during my student teaching phase in Korea, my mentor teacher asked her world […]

Quarantined Classes

The YouTube channel I created with my colleague, Meg Chandler, i.spiration e.ducation, is on it’s 30th episode! This episode highlights the new era of online learning for teachers, given COVID-19. I hope you find this, and future posts, helpful as we all continue to educate in a world of social distancing.

Big Boy #4014

This weekend Union Pacific’s Big Boy No. 4014 visited my town, Tucson, AZ. Taken from the Union Pacific webpage, No. 4014 began operation on December 1941. The locomotive was retired in December 1961, having traveled 1,031,205 miles in its 20 years in service.  In 2013, No. 4014 began its multi-year restoration process. It returned to […]

And that’s a wrap! SALT hike 2021 came and went and my soul is better for it. @carcraw 🏈 tackled me straight to the ground. @jessebuell18 🐐 infirmary stories made me laugh so hard. I pretended to be a 🦌. 👖 were cut into shorts. Songs were sung. There was laughter and tales and memories shared. @dchstiggerteacher led us all with grace and ❤️. Thank you @desertchristianschools for continuing this tradition! #teacherlife #studentteacherrelationship #classof2021
More SALT pics!!! These are some of the best people on the planet! #salthike2021 @desertchristianschools #teachersofinstagram #teacherlife
SALT (senior attitude and leadership training) hike 2021 with @desertchristianschools complete! I have so many pictures that I’ll have to make a second post. This annual, 17 mile hike from the top of Mount Lemmon down tests the mental, physical, and spiritual strength of students and chaperones alike. How does one lead, or follow, in times of difficulty? Will you ask God for help when your body screams for relief and your mind wants to give up? Will you depend on no one but yourself? Or, will lean on your Father, friends, and mentors to help you push through hard times so that you can say, “ I didn’t give up!” #hike #mountlemmon #salt2021 #getoutdoors #teachersofinstagram #leanonme #leadership #godisincontrol

I’ve missed some serious quality time with students this past year, but at least I’m still feeding my social studies/teacher soul by reading voraciously. Not only do I just dog gone LOVE historical books, but they also further develop my understanding of the past and of human nature. Suddenly, thanking men and women for their service seems like an understatement. This one is a MUST READ (explicit language warning)! #karlmarlantes #vietnam #matterhorn #marines #veterans #vietnamwar #teachersofinstagram #lifelonglearning #nytbestseller
Honestly, I can’t get enough of this girl! God really blessed me by putting @amelia.thor in my life path. ❤️❤️ #formerstudent #teacherlife #blessed
“Put me back in coach!” That’s what I was praying after my visit with @carcraw yesterday. Now that I’m staying in town, I’ve been looking for a way to get back in the classroom, but after talking with you, my desire to be with high schoolers is even stronger! Thank you for giving me an extra reminder of how much I love teaching and how much I love teens! I miss my former students so much! #teacherlife #teachersofinstagram #teachersofig
Ok, the plethora of Bernie memes are hilarious! This one tho, I just HAD to repost! Of course though, if you ever had me as a teacher, you were more likely to see me lay on the floor to get your attention rather than wait in a Bernie pose. #berniememes #teachersofinstagram
